We are thrilled to welcome back world-renowned Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawass, along with Egypt’s General Director of Antiquities, Dr. Mostafa Waziri, for two exciting lectures! Dr. Waziri will present the activities and successful results of a recent project that he directed, involving the protection, consolidation, and excavation of ancient pharaonic sites in Saqqara, Middle and Upper Egypt, and the Delta.
Dr. Hawass will reveal major discoveries from his recent work at the pyramids, Tuna el-Gebel, and the Valley of the Kings. Hear it first at the Bowers!

More information about Dr. Mostafa Waziri's lecture, "Recent Discoveries from Egypt":

In the last two years, the Ministry of Antiquities began a major project to protect, consolidate and excavate around many ancient pharaonic sites. The activities were carried out in Saqqara, Middle and Upper Egypt, and moreover, in the Delta.

The result of this project was a great success, not only for Egypt but for world heritage. This lecture will present the activities that have been carried out under the direction of Dr. Mostafa Waziri, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council Of Antiquities in Saqqara, Tuna el Gabal and Luxor.

Dr. Hawass will discuss recent discoveries at the pyramids, Tuna el-Gebel, and the Valley of the Kings. This is the first time that Hawass will reveal major important discoveries that he was involved in during the last year.

Dr. Hawass will shed light on the recent scientific work that happened inside the great pyramid of Khufu, searching for secret chambers, as well as the drill that he made under the Sphinx to investigate the theory about tunnels under the Sphinx. Hawass will discuss the recent discoveries that were shown live by Discovery Channel all over the world. And finally, the result of his excavation in the Valley of the Kings looking for the tombs of Queen Nefertiti and Queen Ankhesenamun.
