IN THE SPIRIT OF FRIDA KAHLO: PORTRAITS OF THE SELF AND OTHERS
PERSONAL VISION WORKSHOP WITH MARTHA FULLER

4-part workshop with meetings on Saturdays, May 6, 13, 20 & 27

Instructor: Martha Fuller

Gain insight and inspiration from an intimate glimpse into the life of one of the world’s most beloved artists. In conjunction with the current exhibition Frida Kahlo – Her Photos, this course will integrate visual and verbal lectures, hands on assignments, critiques and discussion, to sharpen your perceptions of the self – of art and artist. Self-portraits provide a mirror image of our ever changing perceptions, as do the photos we chose to take or collect of our loved ones and those around us, as well as our natural and cultural surroundings. Using your smartphone, 35 mm camera, i-Pad, computer or pen, explore the self by creating (and collecting) portraits (visual or verbal) of yourself and others integral to your life, as well as environmental portraits of self and others. Projects may include photographs, drawings, paintings, mixed media, sculpture, creative writing or a blend of any of the above. In this self-reflective workshop, you will create a final portfolio of self-portraits as evidence of ever-changing influences, perceptions and periods in your life. Portfolio will also include portraits of you as seen by others.
