ONSITE | Books at Bowers: Horse by Geraldine Brooks

RSVP HERE

THURSDAY | JUNE 15 | 1 - 2 PM | Norma Kershaw Auditorium | Onsite Book Discussion

“Books at Bowers: Touring Through the Pages” is a Bowers Docent Guild sponsored book club that pairs a topical book with a museum art experience.

The June book club selection, Horse, was written by acclaimed Pulitzer Prize-winning author and skilled journalist, Geraldine Brooks. With rigorous research and masterful storytelling this historical novel pulls the reader from past to present with Lexington, one of the 19th century’s most famous racehorses and sires. “Horse is a novel of art and science, love and obsession, and our unfinished reckoning with racism.” (Goodreads) copyright 2022, 416 pages.

Following the in-person discussion in the museum auditorium, a docent led tour in California Bounty will highlight the equestrian painting of Don Jose Sepulveda with his winning racehorse, Black Swan, 1856.

Free for Bowers Members. RSVP on Bowers.org. Space is limited to 30 Bowers Members per discussion. A confirmation email will be sent to participants. Questions? Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
