SATURDAY | JANUARY 11 | 1:30 – 3:30 PM
NORMA KERSHAW AUDITORIUM | LECTURE
Presented by Diane Mueller Hagner, Vice President for the ARCE Orange County board.
The post-Amarna line of succession for the late-18th Dynasty kings has been a lasting Egyptological mystery. One unresolved question is the true parentage of Tutankhamun, and establishing the genetic relationships of the Amarna royal family has been an ongoing challenge.
Testing has been performed on the mummified remains of Tutankhamun and several of his purported family members, including x-raying, tissue sampling, and hair sampling. This talk will present scientific data and arguments for and against these findings. Using all available evidence, can more concrete conclusions about these Amarna family relationships be established?
Ticketed Onsite Event: Free for Bowers and ARCE Members | General $15
Recorded Online Screening: Free for Bowers and ARCE Members | General $10 | Online version will be emailed to ticketholders one week after the onsite event.
