Join renowned art historian Jean Stern to learn about the rich artistry and cultural heritage of Ancient West Mexico, highlighting the distinctive artistic styles and traditions of Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, and Michoacán. Mr. Stern will discuss two articles that he wrote as a graduate student at San Diego State College, each exploring the captivating imagery of Nayarit. He will also show and discuss several of the objects in Bowers Museum’s Ceramics of Western Mexico exhibition.
