About the speaker: 

Joey Lawrence has photographed a number of recognizable faces including Robert De Niro, Danny DeVito, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, John Legend, Dylan McDermott, and Karlie Kloss. Photographer Joey Lawrence has dedicated over fourteen years to capturing Ethiopia's cultural diversity, calling Addis Ababa his home. A self-taught photographer, he focuses on global cultural diversity, directing his first film 'People of the Delta' in southern Ethiopia, featuring local languages and collaborators. Joey's work extends to advertising, notably with Ethiopian luxury brand ZAAF, showcasing Ethiopia's unique qualities. His notable collaboration with WaterAid in Sierra Leone and Ethiopia raised significant funds for water-related issues, highlighting community resilience. Joey's extensive coverage of the Iraq and Syria conflicts has been featured in major publications and exhibitions. Advocating for Kurdish cultural rights, his work documents the struggle against ISIS and the plight of the Ezidi religious minority. Joey's acclaimed photography spans diverse subjects, from humanitarian projects to celebrity portraits, consistently attracting top brands and media attention globally.
