Timeless Melodies: “Putting on Your Top Hat” – 1930s Part 2

PURCHASE TICKETS

THURSDAY | AUGUST 22
1:30 – 3 PM | NORMA KERSHAW AUDITORIUM | LECTURE

Take a nostalgic walk down memory lane with music and more presented by Larry Maurer, historian of the Timeless Melodies Foundation for Education, Inc.

In the second of this two-part lecture, Larry Maurer looks at the great Broadway songwriters of the 30s like Rodgers & Hart, George and Ira Gershwin, and Cole Porter; and the big bands that made the decade swing. It was a decade of cowboys (even John Wayne sings!) and the first movie appearance of the great black singers like Billie Holiday.

Ticketed Onsite Event: Members $10 | General $15
