Chinese Lianhuanhua (Comics) and its Influence on Contemporary Chinese Arts with Wang Yi

RSVP

An increasing number of contemporary artists throughout Asia are taking inspiration from comics, making the comic art a vibrant component in Asian contemporary arts. This is particularly the case in Chinese artist Wang Yi’s journey. Educated both in Shanghai and New York with a strong artistic family background, Wang Yi is a rising artist whose works have been exhibited in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei and New York.

In a conversation with Bowers Museum's Chief Curator Dr. Tianlong Jiao, Wang Yi will discuss how he was inspired by comic arts in creating many of his own works. Wang Yi will also elaborate upon his family’s artistic links, a reflection of how Chinese arts have changed over the past century.

Location: Asian Comics: Evolution of an Art Form exhibition (section 4)

Tickets: Free; no RSVP required.
